The British spy boat St Georges, which holds the Automatic Targeting Attack Communicator (ATAC), the system used by the Ministry of Defence to communicate with and co-ordinate the Royal Navy's fleet of Polaris submarines, is sunk by a naval mine in the Ionian Sea. MI6 agent James Bond, code name '007', is ordered by the Minister of Defence, Sir Fredrick Gray and MI6 Chief of Staff, Bill Tanner, to retrieve the ATAC before the Soviets, as the transmitter could order attacks by the Polaris submarines' ballistic missiles.

The head of the KGB, General Gogol has also learnt of the fate of the St Georges and already notified his contact in Greece. A marine archaeologist, Sir Timothy Havelock, who had been asked by the British to secretly locate the St Georges, is murdered with his wife by a Cuban hitman, Hector Gonzales. Bond goes to Spain to find out who hired Gonzales.

While spying on Gonzales' villa, Bond is captured by his men, but manages to escape as Gonzales is shot with an arrow. Outside, he finds the assassin was Melina Havelock, the daughter of Sir Timothy and the two escape. With the help of Q, Bond identifies a hitman in Gonzales' estate as Emile Leopold Locque, and then goes to Locque's possible base in Italy. There Bond meets his contact, Luigi Ferrara, and a well-connected Greek businessman and intelligence informant, Aris Kristatos, who tells Bond that Locque is employed by Milos Columbo, known as "the Dove" in the Greek underworld, Kristatos' former resistance partner during the Second World War.

After Bond goes with Kristatos' protégée, figure skater Bibi Dahl, to a biathlon course, a group of three men which include East German biathlete Eric Kriegler chase Bond trying to kill him. Bond escapes, and then goes with Ferrara to bid Bibi farewell in an indoor ice rink where he fends off another attempt on his life by men in hockey gear. Ferrara is killed in his car, with a dove pin in his hand. Bond then travels to Corfu in pursuit of Columbo

Conan the Barbarian is a film about a young barbarian's quest to avenge his parents' deaths. The story is set in the fictional Hyborian Age, thousands of years before the rise of modern civilization. The film opens with the words, "That which does not kill us makes us stronger", a paraphrasing of Friedrich Nietzsche, on a black screen followed by a voice-over that establishes the film as the story of Conan's origin. "A burst of drums and trumpets" accompanies the forging of a sword, after which the scene shifts to a mountain top, where the swordsmith tells his young son Conan about the Riddle of Steel, an aphorism on the importance of the metal to their people, the Cimmerians.

The Cimmerians are massacred by a band of warriors led by Thulsa Doom. Conan's father is killed by dogs, and his sword is taken by Doom to decapitate Conan's mother. The children are taken into slavery; Conan is chained to a large mill, the "Wheel of Pain". Years of pushing the huge grindstone build up his muscles and he is then sold to a new master, who trains him to be a gladiator, and after winning many pit fights, Conan is freed. After being freed, Conan is chased by wild dogs. He seeks refuge in an ancient tomb he stumbles upon. Inside the tomb he finds an Atlantean General's ceremoniously displayed corpse along with his sword which he takes as his own. As he wanders the world, he encounters a witch, who turns into a demon while having sex with Conan and is driven off by him. Conan also befriends Subotai, a thief and archer.

Following the witch's advice, Conan and Subotai go to Shadizar, in the land of Zamora, to seek out Doom. They meet Valeria, a female brigand. The three burgle the "Tower of Serpents", a temple of Doom's snake cult, and steal a large jewel—the Eye of the Serpent—and other valuables; Conan and Subotai also battle and slay a large snake. After escaping with their loot, the thieves celebrate and end up in a drunken stupor. The city guards capture them and bring them to King Osric. He requests they rescue his daughter, who has joined Doom's cult. Subotai and Valeria do not want to take up the quest; Conan, motivated by his hatred for Doom, sets off alone to the villain's Temple of Set.

Disguised as a priest, Conan infiltrates the temple, but he is discovered, captured, and tortured. Doom lectures him on the power of flesh, which he demonstrates by compelling a girl to leap to her death. He then orders Conan crucified on the "Tree of Woe". The barbarian is on the verge of death when he is discovered by Subotai and brought to the Wizard of the Mounds, who lives on a burial site for warriors and kings. The wizard summons spirits to heal Conan and warns that they will "extract a heavy toll", which Valeria is willing to pay. These spirits also try to abduct Conan, but he is restored to health after Valeria and Subotai fend them off

British agent 009 is found dead at the British embassy in East Berlin, dressed as a circus clown and carrying a fake Fabergé egg. MI6 immediately suspects Soviet involvement and sends James Bond—agent 007—to investigate, after seeing the real egg appear at an auction in London, ordering the agent to find out who the seller is. At the auction, Bond is able to swap the real egg with the fake, and engages in a bidding war with exiled Afghan prince Kamal Khan, forcing Khan to pay £500,000 for the fake egg.

Bond follows Khan back to his palace in Rajasthan, India, where Bond defeats Khan in a game of backgammon. Bond escapes with his Indian colleague Vijay, evading Khan's bodyguard Gobinda's attempts to kill them both. Bond is seduced by one of Khan's associates, Magda (Kristina Wayborn), and notices that she has a blue-ringed octopus tattoo. Magda steals the real Fabergé egg fitted with a listening device by Q, while Gobinda captures Bond and takes him to Khan's palace. After Bond escapes from his cell he listens in on the bug in the Fabergé egg and discovers that Khan is working with Orlov, a renegade Soviet general, who is seeking to expand Soviet borders into Europe.

After escaping the palace, Bond infiltrates a floating palace in Udaipur, India, and there finds its owner, Octopussy, a wealthy woman who leads the Octopus cult, of which Magda is a part. In Octopussy's palace, Bond finds out that Orlov has been supplying Khan with priceless Soviet treasures, replacing them with replicas, while Khan has been smuggling the real versions into the West, via Octopussy's circus troupe. Orlov is planning to meet Khan at Karl-Marx-Stadt in East Germany, where the circus is scheduled to perform. After evading Khan's assassins, Bond goes to East Germany

Kara Zor-El (Helen Slater) lives in an isolated Kryptonian community called Argo City, in a pocket of trans-dimensional space. However, after a mishap, the Omegahedron is blown out into space. Whilst not knowing exactly what it is, Selena quickly realizes that the Omegahedron is powerful and can enable her to perform real magical spells. Supergirl arrives on Earth and discovers her powers. Following the path of the Omegahedron, she takes the name Linda Lee, identifies herself as a cousin of Clark Kent, and enrols at an all-girls school where she befriends Lucy Lane (Maureen Teefy), a younger sister of Lois Lane who happens to be studying there. Supergirl also meets and becomes enamoured with Ethan (Hart Bochner) who works as a groundskeeper at the school.

Ethan also catches the eye of Selena, who drugs him with a love potion, however Ethan regains consciousness in Selena's absence and wanders out into the streets. An angry Selena uses her new-found powers to animate a construction vehicle, which she sends to bring Ethan back, causing chaos in the streets as it does so. Supergirl rescues Ethan and he falls in love with her instead while in guise of Linda Lee

James Bond is sent to Siberia to locate the body of 003 and recover a microchip originating from the Soviet Union. Upon his return Q analyses the microchip, establishing it to be a copy of one designed to withstand an electromagnetic pulse and made by government contractor Zorin Industries.

Bond visits Ascot Racecourse to observe the company's owner, Max Zorin. Zorin's horse wins a race but proves hard to control. Sir Godfrey Tibbett, a horse trainer and MI6 agent, believes Zorin's horse was drugged, although tests proved negative. Through Tibbett, Bond meets French private detective Achille Aubergine who informs Bond that Zorin is holding a horse sale later in the month. During their dinner at the Eiffel Tower, Aubergine is assassinated by Zorin's bodyguard May Day, who subsequently escapes, despite being chased by Bond.

Bond and Tibbett travel to Zorin's estate for the horse sale. Bond is puzzled by a woman who rebuffs him and finds out that Zorin has written her a cheque for five million dollars. At night, Bond and Tibbett break into Zorin's laboratory learning that he is implanting adrenaline-releasing devices in his horses. Zorin identifies Bond as an agent, has May Day assassinate Tibbett and attempts to have Bond killed too.

General Gogol of the KGB confronts Zorin for killing Bond without permission revealing that Zorin was initially trained and financed by the KGB, but has now gone rogue. Later, Zorin unveils to a group of investors his plan to destroy Silicon Valley which will give him—and the potential investors—a monopoly over microchip manufacture

Life is difficult in a small town in British Columbia, Canada in the wake of a terrible school bus accident in which numerous local children are killed. Hardly able to cope with the loss, their grieving parents are approached by a lawyer, Mitchell Stephens (Ian Holm), who wants them to sue for damages by claiming the bus was faulty.

Stephens is aware that urging for a class action suit while the town is so aggrieved is ethically questionable, but persists anyway. He is meanwhile haunted by his dysfunctional relationship with his own adult daughter whom he may soon lose permanently to drug abuse. At first most of the parents are reluctant to sue, but eventually they are persuaded by Stephens that filing a class action lawsuit would ease their minds and also be the right thing to do.

As most of the children are dead, the case now depends on the few surviving witnesses to say the right things in court. In particular, it is 15-year-old Nicole Burnell (Sarah Polley), who was sitting at the front of the bus and is now paralyzed from the waist down, whose deposition is all-important. Before the accident, Nicole was a budding country music prodigy and she senses that her parents want justice and a large cash settlement to replace her lost music earnings—and not necessarily in that order.

In the pretrial deposition, she unexpectedly accuses driver Dolores Driscoll (Gabrielle Rose) of speeding and thus causing the accident. When she does so, all hopes of holding the bus company liable vanish along with the possibility of a big settlement. It is implied that Nicole's motivation was partly to thwart and punish her parents, especially her sexually abusive father. Those involved know that Nicole is lying but can do nothing. The trial never occurs, leaving the townspeople, and Stephens, to cope in other ways with the uncertain future.

The main protagonist in Japanese director Shinya Tsukamoto's latest film, Kotoko, is a young mother with a serious medical condition who suffers from an unknown illness that sporadically splits her vision. As a result, she cannot tell whether what she sees is real.

Kotoko (played by Japanese pop star Cocco) does her best to lead a normal life and take care of her son, but the occasional blackouts – during which she finds herself right in the middle of vivid nightmares - slowly begin to erode her mental stability. As the transition from the blackouts back to reality is never easy to recognize, Kotoko begins cutting her hands with razors - because for her this is the only reliable way to confirm that she is still alive and in control of her body.

Eventually, the authorities take Kotoko's son and give it to her sister. Kotoko rarely sees him because her sister and her family live far away in the countryside. Now alone in her tiny apartment, Kotoko loses the desire to stay alert and the blackouts almost completely change her personality.

Around the same time, a middle-aged man (Shinya Tsukamoto) appears and confesses to Kotoko that he has been stalking her. Takanaka also makes it clear that he is madly in love with Kotoko and willing to help her overcome her illness. At first, Kotoko is unsure whether Takanaka is a real person or yet another maniac that her mind has created. She consistently hurts him and attempts to erase him from her mind, but then warms up to him and allows him to stay close to her. Takanaka does his best to restore balance in Kotoko's life, but her condition worsens and their relationship takes a very unusual turn

A no tell motel is a place for late night encounters. In Brett Donowho's movie, No Tell Motel, those encounters do not involve sex; they involve ghostly visits. This roadside getaway hosts and assortment of ghouls. Angela (Rileigh Chalmers) leads the supernatural charge, while five friends cannot offer much of a defence. Meanwhile, each visitor suffers from some hidden secret. Everything is eventually put out into the open including internal organs.

The film's story involves two tales. The first tale starts the film. A young girl is left unattended and she soon finds a bloody impact with a car's grill. She is killed instantly. The parents cannot let go. No Tell Motel then transitions into a second tale, which is set in the present. Corey (Angel McCord), Rachel (Chelsey Reist), Spencer (Johnny Hawkes), Kyle (Andrew MacFarlane) and Megan (Chalie Howes) are all heading out on a camping adventure. Their recreational vehicle flips when Kyle's drug yearnings spin out of control. They land at the Horak place, where the film started, with no way out. And, each character will interact with the ghostly visage of a young but very dead Angela.

T.J. Cimfel, in his first script, manages to give each character a minor backstory. Kyle has turned to medication to numb his failed sport pursuits. His dependency on intoxicants increases throughout the film. Corey is a cutter. Her scarred arms allude to an inner demon. Rachel is bad at dodging oncoming traffic (not really a subplot). Spencer is a rapist and his victim, Megan, is pregnant with his baby. Even the three ghosts in the film are given some storied treatment. The Horaks recovered from the loss of their daughter in a truly horrible way, another pregnancy! All of these minor stories add something to the characters and the film in general.

This is one of the few films this horror fan has seen where a junior actress outshines her older castmates. Perhaps actress Rileigh Chalmers' material was a little more tense, but her scenes are consistently more evocative. Her disapproving looks are enough to sell her ghostly pain. Her character also leads the plot along to confrontation. It is just too bad that her makeup in a few scenes is only partially painted. Her face is white while her neck is still flesh-toned. With this aside, Chalmers plays Angela effectively and when she is present, someone is soon to die

There is a scene early in ``Female Perversions'' where a prosecuting attorney is summarizing her case in a courtroom. Her body language indicates her aggressive intelligence: She uses abrupt, decisive movements. Her language is crisp and definitive. As she talks, the camera uses closeups to indicate what the judge and the male attorneys are noticing: the neckline of the white blouse beneath her business suit, the slit in her shirt, her high-heeled shoes.

Is this a scene illustrating male chauvinist piggism? Not at all. The attorney is precisely aware of the impression she is making. She is a gender warrior who is fiercely ambitious (she's in line for a judgeship) and fiercely competitive (she throws away a lipstick when she sees another woman using the same shade). The woman, whose name is Eve (Tilda Swinton), is rising in the legal world and succeeding at romance, too--she has a relationship with an executive that involves twisted sex in his office with the door unlocked.

All of these accomplishments are driving her mad. And ``Female Perversions,'' uneven and sometimes infuriating, is one of the most provocative films I've seen about the complications of being female in the modern world. It opens with a quote by feminist scholar Louise J. Kaplan, who says that the roles women are required to play in our society are in themselves a form of perversion. Throughout the movie we see graffiti scrawled on billboards and benches, saying things such as, ``Perversion scenarios are about desperate need.'' They are in Eve's case.

Sex for her is a form of hunger, and she is less interested in the other person than in the sudden, savage gratification of her needs (which include the need to dominate, to be desired, to be admired). While continuing her relationship with the male executive, she picks up a female psychiatrist (Karen Sillas) in an elevator, and they become lovers, too--until the other woman calls it off, saying she moved precisely to get out of ``this kind'' of a relationship.

For those outside of Southern California, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival is a well-kept secret. Sorry to blow it. Though popular on the weekends (it’s an easy daytrip from Los Angeles), there was plenty of ticket availability during the week. An added screening of the Oscar-nominated Bullhead was held in the cavernous 1931 movie palace the Arlington, capacity 2100. With only about 60 in the audience, it was virtually a private screening—bliss. And with temperatures reaching over 70 degrees in February, and not a cloud in sight, the location is a no-brainer for a mid-winter event, whether for business or a movie binge.

For filmmakers, there are advantages to participating in a regional event, even one without the bragging rights of Sundance. Here, the festival’s the only game in town, affording filmmakers media access that they can only dream of in New York. For example, a Sunday 6:00 PM local news broadcast devoted over five minutes to the distributor-less documentary Pretty Old, about an annual beauty contest for seniors, and the Santa Barbara News-Press offered a full page of activities and articles daily.

This year before packed houses at the Arlington the festival presented its annual American Riviera career award to Martin Scorsese and its Virtuoso Awards to six actors hitting professional plateaus last year: Demián Bichir, Rooney Mara, Melissa McCarthy, Patton Oswalt, Andy Serkis, and Shailene Woodley. (All of the above made it to town except for McCarthy.) Earlier in the festival, Viola Davis won Outstanding Performer of the Year and Christopher Plummer the Modern Master Award. (Most festivals just give out one or two honors.) Year to year, the SBIFF reads the tea leaves and imbeds itself into awards season, and the number of journalists and photographers on the red carpet press gauntlet outmatched those of the Tribeca or New York film festivals

He becomes infatuated with her immediately. Not too soon after his arrival Charlotte sends Dolores to a summer camp. While Dolores is at camp Charlotte confesses her love for Humbert, although he has no interest in her he decides to marry her as he sees it as a way of getting closer to Lolita (this is a pet-name that he gave Dolores). Charlotte then discovers a journal that Humbert has kept detailing his true feelings for her and Lolita; in an emotional fit Charlotte runs from the house and gets killed by a car.

Humbert then heads to the summer camp and retrieves Lolita, he tells her that her mother is ill as his reasoning for getting her. They then embark on a road tip across the country, forming a romantic yet turbulent relationship along the way. He finally admits to Lolita that her mother is dead, she is heart broken by the news but they continue on their journey. They finally settle into a home and Lolita is enlisted into school. It does not last long and they decide to head on another road trip. While traveling Humbert discovers that they are being followed, becoming increasingly paranoid he attempts to discover who it is but it is to no avail.

Saat itu karena cemburu dan imajinasi berlebihan Briony yang berumur 13 tahun akhirnya menuduh Robbie memperkosa Lola Quincey sepupu Briony. It is a safe bet that 30 Beats, which was filmed in the summer of 2009 and boasts a distinctly mid-'90s "funky, sex-positive" vibe, is seeing a release because of the elevated profile of Paz de la Huerta, one of the film's ensemble cast, who has achieved a measure of stardom on HBO's Boardwalk Empire.

Even more certain is the reason it was shelved in the first place: It is absolutely terrible. Set in New York City during sweltering summertime, 30 Beats is structured around a roundelay of sexual liaisons. A couple meets and parts, one is followed to his or her next encounter, after which the new partner is followed to his or her own next encounter, and so on.

The inspiration is La Ronde, a fin de siècle play by the Viennese author Arthur Schnitzler; it was previously filmed in 1950 by Max Ophüls, while Schnitzler's work also provided the basis for Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. What was for Schnitzler an opportunity to explore the hypocritical sexual mores of his Vienna, with lovers cutting across boundaries of class, is for writer-director Alexis Lloyd an opportunity to string together a series of unfunny skits centered on inconsequential sex, starring de la Huerta, an extremely foggy Jennifer Tilly, Lee Pace, and dozens of others who thought their résumés were safe

Truth is often stranger and more unsettling than fiction, a fact which adds an extra chill to When the Lights Went Out (2012), the new British horror courtesy of writer/director Pat Holden. Based around what is considered to be one of Britain's most famous cases of supernatural phenomena, and starring Steven Waddington, Kate Ashfield and Tasha Connor, Holden's latest is made all the more disturbing due to its possible foundation in reality.

The Maynard family, Len (Waddington), Jenny (Ashfield) and 13-year-old Sally (Connor) move to a small town in Yorkshire. Initially Sally finds it hard to adjust to their new life - though her parents see this as typical teenage reticence. Even after Sally experiences inexplicable occurrences in her bedroom her parents dismiss them, believing that their daughter is just taking time adjusting to her new life. Not until Len and Jenny come up against the supernatural forces themselves, do they realise something really is wrong and action has to be taken before it's too late.

This harrowing tale of one of the worst examples of poltergeist activity in British history can be approached from two angles. As a haunted house film, its use of darkened corridors, banging doors and moonlit fields surrounded by trees rustled with sudden gusts of wind, lend the proceedings an authentically creepy ambience. When the Lights Went Out's use of an average family as the central focus of the poltergeist activity also works in its favour by giving the viewer something tangible to relate to.

From another standpoint, the film's exposition of the state of Britain during the early years of the 1970's is equally disturbing. The country was constantly battling for some semblance of normality during this darkened, strike ridden period - quite literally when the lights often went out, a narrative thread whose potential is exploited to the film's sinister advantage. The visualisation of the young couple's constant struggle for a better life heightens the viewers sympathy with them when the onslaught of the evil spirits upon their family starts in earnest.

Waddington and Ashfield are wonderful as the mystified parents distraught by their predicament, whilst Connor is astounding in the role of the young girl at the centre of the supernatural maelstrom. Whilst the story's truth may be debatable, the Maynard family were obviously convinced, and after watching When the Lights Went Out you may just believe it too.
